THE CAFL MOURNS THE PASSING OF ONE OF IT’S OWN

It’s with the heaviest of hearts that the CAFL announces the passing of one of our own, Cameron McGlenn. In 2016 Cameron anchored the defensive secondary of our Guanzhou Power franchise and was selected to the CAFL All Defensive Team. McGlenn was also part of history as one of the players selected to play in the AFL 2013 All Star Game in Beijing, China which was the first professional football game ever played in the country. Cameron was an instant fan favorite not only because of his big hits and tremendous ability to cover opposing team’s best wide receivers, but also because of his great smile and personality which was often on display on the field as he was known for his amazing dance moves and ability to entertain the crowd between plays.

“He was a everything any coach would want as a player, a great guy and father who gave it all on the field and in life. Life is too short for us to lose good young men like Cameron”, said Guanzhou Head Coach Earnesto Purnsley when informed of the passing of one of his defensive leaders.

While returning home from work in the very early morming on Wednesday May 6th 2020 Cameron McGlenn’s car ran out of gas and while walking to the gas station was struck by an SUV resulting in his death. Cameron was a strong family man and a beloved father but to us he was just a good positive young man who had an even brighter future ahead of him.

Cameron McGlenn will forever be loved, missed and honored as a pioneer in the growth and expansion of American Football in China. RIP #20 and our prayers and wishes go out to all the family and friends who loved him so much.
