Plans Announced for 2nd Annual Sports University Tournament

The CAFL, under the leadership of AFL-Global, met the national and local media in China’s capital to lay out plans for the second annual Chinese University Arena Football Tournament. The CAFL 2015 China Sports University Championship Series will now be called
the DeHeng Bowl, and is presented by The DeHeng Law Firm.

The round-robin event features the six university-based teams supported by the CAFL in full tackle competition from Nov 3-7, 2015. All games will be played at Guanggu Gymnasium at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei province, located in a bucolic setting on the banks of the Yangstzee River.

AFL-Global chairman and CAFL Founder Marty Judge flew in for the news conference, despite his US team, the Philadelphia Soul, being in the midst of their playoffs. “Our goal is to establish our professional arena league here, with a kickoff in 2016, and these Universities will help provide some of the first-ever Chinese professional. I can’t wait to see the progress since last year.”

The six participating schools have been practicing and training in US arena-style football for over two years. Last year’s event was outdoors at Beijing’s Chaoyang Sports Center, following on the heels of an All-Star exhibition between the US-based Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul and Arizona Rattlers at theCapital Gymnasium in November 2013.
