HONOLULU (October 28, 2013) – AFL China announced today that they have reached an agreement to deliver their upcoming November 2nd AFL China Arena All-Star game from Honolulu live on ESPN3.
ESPN will carry the game in its entirety live from the Blaidsdell Arena beginning at 10:00 PM EST on its live multi-screen sports network, available in more than 85 million households nationwide and accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members and Apple TV.
“We could not be more pleased that ESPN3 has joined us as we begin our company’s efforts to take indoor, arena-style football to a national stage,” AFL China President David Niu said.
Star players, many of whom are from the US-based Arena Football League, will battle it out in the fast-paced, high-scoring indoor game that features 8-man squads with a premium on passing.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for fans all over the world, not just the United States, to sample this exciting form of football,” said Ron Jaworski, the renowned former NFL quarterback, ESPN commentator and member of the AFL China ownership group, who will be part of the studio pre-game and half-time shows.
Former NFL All-Pros Ricky Watters and Russ Francis will join host Lou Tilley in the announce booth. Cortney Bailey will report live from throughout the arena, and award-winning journalist Randy Miller will add special insights on the players, the game and Hawaii’s rich athletic history.
Fans not able to view the game live on ESPN3 will be able to access a replay in the weeks to follow.
