CAFL – Professional American Indoor Football in China

Collin Taylor, Man On The Move

(May 23, 2017) By Mick Moninghoff

On May 11th, China Arena Football League Vice President of Football Operations Darrick Branch announced the updated list of CAFL veteran free agents.  Arguably, of the 54 players who were released, the top talent was wide receiver Collin Taylor of the China Bowl champion Beijing Lions. Taylor’s time on the open market was short lived. Branch announced yesterday that Taylor has been claimed by the Guangzhou Power, where he instantly becomes the teams’ go to receiver.

Taylor, who is now playing in the Arena Football League with the Cleveland Gladiators, was second in the CAFL with 45 receptions, tied for second with 586 receiving yards and fourth in touchdown catches with 12.  Taylor caught three touchdown passes in the Lions last second 35-34 China Bowl victory over the Qingdao Clipper.

He becomes the choice to replace wide out Lavasier Tuinei, who the Power released earlier this month. Tuinei led Guangzhou with 11 touchdown catches and 337 yards.  Only receiver Duane Brooks had more receptions (32) than Tuinei for Guangzhou, who finished in fourth place with a 2-4 record in the league’s first season of play.
